New Delhi: Kalyani Priyadarshan’s movie Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra became a big surprise in Malayalam cinema in 2025. The film did not start with high collections but slowly grew popular due to good word-of-mouth from audiences. As a result, the movie became the fifth biggest Malayalam hit of 2025, earning a total of Rs 24.40 crore and beating some films with bigger budgets.
The mysterious Chandra, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan, arrives in Bangalore from Sweden under the summons of Prakash, the agent of Moothon, a powerful controller of superpowered beings across the globe. Chandra’s intriguing goth façade and avoidance of social ties piques the interest of her neighbour, Sunny, who is a jobless youth, and his friends Venu and Naijil. While Chandra strives to keep her powers hidden, a violent encounter at her café job forces her to reveal her supernatural strength, saving Sunny and exposing her true identity as a vampire.
