Punjab floods: Diljit Dosanjh adopts 10 villages, Ammy Virk and others extend support

Several areas in Punjab has been hit by floods and thousands of people have been impacted. Punjab floods have even claimed several lives. Now, celebrities have come forward to support the victims.

New Delhi: Punjabi celebrities including Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Badshah, and Sonam Bajwa, among others have come forward to help the victims in the flood-affected areas of Punjab. Several areas of Punjab has been hit by one of the worst flood disasters in recent years, leaving behind widespread destruction of homes, farmlands and livelihoods.

Since August 1, 12 districts in Punjab have been severely impacted, claiming 29 lives so far and impacting 2.56 lakh people. Now, several celebrities have come forward to support the families amid the crisis.

Punjabi actor and singer Ammy Virk has adopted 200 houses to support those who have lost everything in the Punjab floods. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter, it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again.”

Actor Diljit Dosanjh has joined hands with NGOs and local authorities to adopt 10 villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. His team is helping impacted people in providing food, water and medical aid.

Actress Sonam Bajwa has donated to relief funds who are actively working on the ground as rescue teams. She urged her fans, “In these difficult times, my heart goes out to Punjab and everyone affected by the floods. The images and stories coming from there are truly heartbreaking, but what keeps me hopeful is the spirit of unity and resilience that Punjab has always shown. I am doing my part to help by donating to organisations actively working on the ground as rescue teams, and I humbly urge you to do yours too.”

Popular Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj has taken his foundation to the frontline working in Ferozpur and Fazilka districts. Singer Jasbir Jassi, best known for Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di, revealed that he has reached out to Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, who have pledged their support for Punjab.

Actor Gippy Grewal has sent truckloads of silage to ensure that cattle in flood-hit areas of Punjab have access to food. On the other hand, popular singer Karan Aujla has contributed a motorboat to an NGO in Ludhiana for rescue operations.

Other actors who came forward for help are Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Badshah, and Himanshi Khurrana, among others.
