New Delhi: Late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda’s final rites are set to take place in his native village in Ludhiana district, Punjab, following his tragic death on Wednesday morning. The 35-year-old artist, who had been hospitalised for 11 days after a severe road accident, succumbed to his injuries despite intensive medical care.
A statement released by the hospital confirmed the news of his passing. It read, “Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning. Our deepest condolences to his family and fans.”
Actor and singer Ammy Virk took to Instagram to share an emotional note expressing grief over the sudden loss. He confirmed that Jawanda’s funeral will be conducted in his hometown and requested fans to offer prayers for the departed soul. Several Punjabi celebrities and fans flooded social media with condolences, remembering Rajvir as a humble artist who left behind a legacy of soulful music.
Rajvir had met with a serious accident on September 27 in the Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, while travelling to Shimla on a motorcycle. He was rushed to Fortis Hospital in Mohali in a critical state after sustaining severe head and spinal injuries. Sources revealed that he had also suffered a cardiac arrest before being placed on life support. Doctors had described his condition as “extremely critical,” noting minimal brain activity and no signs of significant improvement.
Despite continuous treatment from the hospital’s neurosurgery and critical care units, the singer could not recover. His passing has left the Punjabi entertainment industry and his global fanbase in shock.
Born in the village of Pona, Rajvir Jawanda began his music career in 2014 with the single Munda Like Me. He rose to fame in 2016 with the hit track Kali Jawande Di, which made him a household name among Punjabi music lovers.
Originally aspiring to become a police officer, Rajvir eventually chose to pursue music, a decision that won him immense recognition and love. Some of his most popular songs include Tu Dis Penda, Khush Reha Kar, Sardari, Surname, Afreen, and Landlord.
In addition to his music career, he also showcased his acting skills in Punjabi films such as Subedar Joginder Singh (2018), Jind Jaan, and Mindo Taseeldarni.
