EXCLUSIVE! Ram Madhvani says working with Sushmita Sen is ‘one of the great memories of his life’

Sushmita Sen birthday: Sushmita Sen turned 50 on November 19, 2025, marking three decades since she changed the course of Indian pageantry by becoming the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe crown in 1994. The milestone has naturally brought warm tributes from across the film and OTT industry, including a heartfelt message from filmmaker Ram Madhvani, who directed the actor in the acclaimed crime-thriller series Aarya.

In an exclusive conversation with TV9, Madhvani reflected on his association with the actor and described working with her as a career-defining privilege. “Working with her has been one of like genuinely both Amitabh’s and mine, one of the great memories of our lives,” he said. The director added, “And we wish her everything. And like we’ve spoken about, obviously, her aura, her energy. Her uniqueness. Well, happy birthday, Sushmita.”

The filmmaker didn’t stop there. Sharing his admiration for her craft, he expressed a clear desire to see her take on more roles in the coming years. “I would love to see more of Sushmita. That’s up to her to decide… the roles that she gets. But yes, she is somebody that we would love to see more of for sure,” he said, praising her rare magnetism as a screen performer.

Sushmita’s performance in Aarya, which marked her digital debut, remains one of her most celebrated works. The series, co-created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, follows the journey of Aarya Sareen, a fiercely protective mother who is forced into the violent world of drug cartels and criminal power struggles after her husband’s murder. Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan’s gritty underworld, the show has been applauded for its tight narrative, emotional depth, and Sen’s commanding presence.
