New Delhi: The much-awaited trailer of Anupam Kher’s directorial, Tanvi: The Great, has been released by the makers. The trailer was unveiled in a grand event in Mumbai on Monday (June 30). The movie was premiered in the Cannes Film Festival and is scheduled to release in theatres on July 18, 2025. 

The film was also premiered at the New YorkIndian Film Festival, which was attended by Hollywood legend obert De Niro.

Tanvi: The Great trailer out

The film, Tanvi: The Great narrates the story of Tanvi Raina (played by Shubhangi Dutt), a young woman battling autism and is determined to join the Army to fulfill his late father’s dream of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen glacier. Tanvi’s father Captain Samar Pratap Raina gets martyred during a war. However, she faces challenges and obstacles as a person with Autism Spectrum Disorder doesn’t qualify to be a part of Indian army. 

Apart from Shubhangi, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Boman Irani, Karan Tacker, Pallavi Joshi, Arvind Swam, and Iain Glen,among others in important roles. 

With music score by Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, the film is directed by Anupam Kher and is written by Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit. The global distribution is handled by Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and AA Films, led by Anil Thadani. It is produced by Anupam Kher Studios.

At the trailer launch, Anupam Kher said, ”Everyone who watches Tanvi The Great will walk away a little kinder perhaps even changed. This film is my tribute to every person who is different but no less. It’s the story of an autistic, brilliant, and fiercely determined girl who dreams of joining the Indian Army. This is one of the most important films of my career, and I’m confident audiences in India will connect with it just as deeply as those around the world already have.”
