Mumbai: The much awaited movie Thamma, the fifth instalment in the Maddock horror comedy universe, is finally out in theatres. Netizens took to X to share their first impressions of the movie starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. While some have called it a complete Diwali entertainer, others have remarked it to be average with pacing issues.
One netizen commented, "Thamma is an engaging mix of emotion, drama, and unpredictability. The first half focuses on building the story a bit slow at times, but it sets the stage well. The second half, however, really picks up and delivers an impressive payoff."
Another individual commented, "First half: Smart writing and engaging humour make it a delightful watch. Second half: The emotional depth surprises, ending on a powerful note. Some compared the movie to other movies in the Maddock horror comedy universe, and shared their disappointment.
A third person commented, "Nowhere close to Stree2 especially the climax but movie was a build up movie setting up stage for Bhediya 2 and further. Ayushmann and Rashmika have done well. Nawaz & Paresh were ok. Comedy is a hit and miss." One user said that the movie would satisfy the audience if thet have't watched the latest Malayalam movie Lokah.
"Thamma s Mediocre and might work partially if you haven't watched Lokah. Other than the universe connection, hardly any thrills or highs," said one online reviewer.
Meanwhile, netizens were particularly impressed with the performances of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. They also lauded Varun Dhawan's cameo appearance.
"#VarunDhawan has a Blockbuster cameo and there are a couple of more surprises too," wrote one on X.
Thamma tells the story of how Alok, a Delhi-based journalist, played by Ayushmann, enters a unique world of vampires after meeting mysterious Tadaka, played by Rashmika Mandanna. It was released on Tuesday.
