New Delhi: Excitement builds as Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan teams up with director Ram Gopal Varma for Sarkar 4, their first project since Sarkar 3.
In an exclusive News9live chat, RGV confirms they're in talks with script work underway. Fans wonder if this powerhouse duo can recreate the magic, given their bumpy past hits and misses like Aag and the underrated gem Nishabd. What secrets from their bond will shape this thriller?
Ram Gopal Varma spoke exclusively to News9live, confirming Amitabh Bachchan's return for Sarkar 4. He said, "We are in talks and work on the script is going on." This marks their reunion after Sarkar 3, thrilling fans of the political drama franchise. Recent buzz suggests production eyes early 2026, with Abhishek Bachchan possibly joining too.
RGV shared warm memories of meeting Amitabh Bachchan. "My first meeting with him was when I went to Nepal, where the Khuda Gawah shooting was happening. I went to see Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna introduced me to him. I wasn't a known director then, so I don't think he recognised me as such," RGV recalled to News9live. The second encounter was at the Shiva premiere, post-Shehanshah shoot, and later for Satya. Their first one-on-one was at Bachchan's home before Sarkar.
RGV lauded Bachchan's unmatched intensity. "He's the only actor who brought an enormous sense of dignity and intensity to whatever role he performs. He looks larger than life, no matter what kind of role he plays. I think you can say that for very few actors. I can't recall anyone, actually," he told News9live. Even in flops like Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, "In a movie as bad as Aag, he's working seriously. It went in a completely wrong direction, but not because of a lack of effort or intention, which he recognises. And that's why, irrespective of the film being good, bad, or ugly, he still sticks with me."
RGV highlighted Nishabd, starring Jiah Khan, as underrated. "He took that as a challenge to make it an intense love story without any kind of sexualism. If you look at American Beauty, there are a lot of sexual innuendos. The film won an Oscar. So, to portray love without sexual overtones and then to make people cry for his loss, I think that challenge is what attracted him," RGV explained to News9live. The 2007 drama tested Bachchan's range, earning praise for its bold take despite mixed reviews.
