Why did gangster Goldy Brar fire shots at Disha Patani’s Bareilly home?

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, shots were fired outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s house in Civil Lines, Bareilly on Friday around 4 am. Police confirmed that the attack was over the alleged insult of Hindu saints, Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj. After the attack, Goldy Brar, a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took the responsibility.

Authorities confirmed that several rounds were fired, and two rounds of aerial firing was also reported at around 4:30 am. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

According to police, two men on a bike allegedly opened fire outside Disha Patani’s home. Hours after firing, gangster Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the firing was in retaliation for an alleged “insult” directed at spiritual leaders Premanand Ji Maharaj and Anirudh Acharya Ji Maharaj by Khushboo Patani, the sister of Disha Patani.

The post further claimed that it was just a ”trailer” for all Bollywood actors who insult Hindu deities or priests. The post read, “Jai Shri Ram. Ram Ram to all brothers. I, Virendra Charan, Mahendra Saran (Delana). Brothers, today the firing that happened at Khushboo Patani/Disha Patani’s (Bollywood actress) house (Villa No. 40, Civil Lines, Bareilly, UP), we got it done. She insulted our revered saints (Premanand Ji Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Ji Maharaj). She tried to demean our Sanatan Dharma. The insult of our deities will not be tolerated. This was just a trailer. Next time, if she or anyone else shows disrespect towards our religion, then no one in their house will be left alive.”

“This message is not just for her, but also for all the artists of the film industry and those associated with them. Whoever in the future commits such an insulting act against our religion and saints should be ready to face the consequences. To protect our religion, we are ready to go to any extent. We will never back down. For us, our religion and society are one, and protecting them is our first duty”, the post further added.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police in Bareilly, Anurag Arya, “Immediately, the local police and a team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) reached the house and began the investigation. At least five teams have been formed to apprehend the accused.” Two men opened fire outside Disha’s home around 3 am. An adequate number of security personnel have been deployed at Patani’s home to ensure the safety of the family members.”

At the time of the attack, the family members were asleep inside the house, and around 10-12 rounds were fired before the accused fled the scene. Along with Disha’s parents, Khushboo too stays in the house while Disha resides in Mumbai.

Recently, Khushboo Patani criticised Premanand Ji Maharaj for his remarks on women and live-in relationships. She said, "He says girls who are above the age of 25 and stay in live-in relationships, woh 4 jagah mooh maar ke aati hai (they go from one person to another). If only he was around me, I would have made him understand the meaning of the words he has used against women. They are anti-national. You should never support b****** of the highest orders.”

Police is currently investigating the incident and searching for the accused who fired shots at Disha Patani's home in Uttar Pradesh.
