Cuddalore : In a tragic incident, at least seven people lost their lives after a government bus collided with two vehicles near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. As peer the police, the us changed direction due to tyre burst.

The bus was on its way to Chennai from Tiruchirappalli. The bus was running on the national highway near Cuddalore. It suddenly changed direction when a tyre of the bus burst and moved to the other direction after climbing onto the road median.

‘The bus collided head-on with 2 vehicles’

"The bus collided head-on with 2 vehicles (an SUV and a car) that were proceeding towards Tiruchirappalli from Chennai; 7 occupants of the 2 private vehicles were killed," a district police official said while speaking to news agency PTI. He added that several people were also injured in the incident.

Police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information

Police officials from the Ramanatham police station rushed to the spot after receiving the information. Upon reaching there, they started recovery operations. They have also launched a probe to identify the victims and find out details of their travel, including the places they belonged to and their destination.

11 people died in a bus accident recently

Recently, at least 11 people lost their lives and over 20 people were injured when two state-run buses collided near Karaikudi in the state, police said. The accident took place around 15 km from Karaikudi. Of 11 victims, eight women, two men, and a child, a PTI had said.

According to a police official, over 20 passengers were admitted to government hospitals for treatment. Sharkng details of the incident, an official said, ""it was a head-on collision, the reason is not clear, we are looking into it.” This was the second major head-on bus collision in the state that week.
