Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: A disturbing incident has come to light from Meerut, where an Indian Army soldier was reportedly subjected to a brutal assault by toll plaza employees on Sunday night. The shocking altercation occurred at the Bhuni toll plaza under the Sarurpur police station's jurisdiction. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral across social media platforms, sparking outrage.
The widely circulated footage graphically depicts approximately ten individuals ganging up on the serviceman, identified as Kapil. Several attackers were seen wielding sticks, while four to five men forcibly held the soldier by his arms against a pole, immobilising him. During this, others repeatedly kicked and slapped him in a sustained act of violence.
The altercation, which escalated rapidly, prompted swift action from the Meerut Police after the incident was reported. Acting on a complaint filed by Kapil’s family, authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and have already apprehended four primary accused individuals. A large-scale manhunt has been initiated to locate and arrest the remaining absconders involved in the assault.
“Under the Sarurpur police station area, at the Bhuni Toll Plaza, an incident of assault on an Indian Army soldier by toll workers occurred. The police took swift action and arrested 04 accused individuals. A statement regarding this matter was given by the Superintendent of Police (Rural),” the Meerut Police said in an X post.
According to a senior police official, the dispute reportedly arose from a minor argument. The soldier, facing a lengthy queue of vehicles at the toll plaza, communicated his urgency to the employees, which is believed to have triggered the heated confrontation leading to the brutal beating. A detailed investigation into the matter is currently underway.
