In the Reddit post, the Bengaluru proofreader, with grade 10th qualification, said that he came to the city from a small village in South India with just Rs 5000 in his pocket. It was the year 2000 and he started life with a modest salary of Rs 4,200. Fortunately, his hard work paid off. His salary grew to Rs 63,000 and he steadily built his savings. He stayed on rent, lived a simple life and avoided any temptations to splurge or even take out loans. His discipline eventually paid off. He was able to accumulate a fund worth over Rs 1 crore.
Netizens were quick to comment on the post. They lauded the man and were eager to know tips and tricks that helped him achieve his goals.
"Now this is what I like about the post. All those below 30 or 35 guys flexing their 1 or 10 cr net worth - lesson here. Education, values, where one should stop - that's the biggest wealth anyone can have. I wish my father had values like these," said one. Another commented, "I think this is the best post I have read on Reddit till date. Amidst all the fear mongering and lack of clarity among people of my generation when it comes to differentiating between needs and wants, your post feels like a breath of fresh air. I am a millennial, and I often see both my generation and Gen Z simply throwing around big random numbers on Reddit and associating those with happiness and peace of mind."
