Bengaluru: A techie mocked by a startup interviewer had her mic-drop moment when she got hired by Google. The woman shared her experience on X, and netizens were thrilled for her. They congratulated her for proving the interviewer wrong and showcasing her capabilities through her actions.
The X user, identified as Arpita, revealed that a startup interviewer humiliated her by stating that she was incapable of getting into big tech companies. "Was grilled by a mid-level startup interviewer in a system design round, he made me design infra, estimate CPU costs, basically everything except physically build the data centre,” wrote the woman on social media. At one point, when she struggled to answer some questions, the interviewer smirked at her and blatantly remarked, "This is why people like you won’t make it to big companies like Google, Meta.”
Contrary to the interviewer's belief, the woman bagged a job at Google. She concluded the post by revealing his current company and wrote, "Not bragging—just wondering why some folks gatekeep based on their own insecurities." The post garnered several comments. Many were glad to read the success story.
It inspired many. One wrote, "Great story. Success is the best revenge. Keep going." Another person commented, "Absolutely weird, when I take interviews I usually try to do it in a way that how much I can learn from the other person." A third individual stated, "Today, most of the interviewers see attitude and eagerness to learn as you can not judge a person on the whole thing in those 10-15 minutes (sic)."
Meanwhile, some shared similar experiences. One wrote, "Last year, I cleared 3 out of 4 rounds in a Bangalore startup, but then in the last interview, I met a high-attitude person. Initially, he started defaming my backend system that I developed for my startup, then asked me to build a load balancer and rate limiter in 30 minutes. And got rejected (sic)."
