New Delhi: Ahead of the Assembly Election results in Bihar, posters featuring CM Nitish Kumar and with the caption, 'Tiger abhi Zinda hai' boldly written on it, appeared in Patna on Monday. The posters were put outside the office of Kumar's party, the Janata Dal (United).
According to a report in the Times of India, the poster was put up by JD(U) leader and former minister Ranjit Sinha. The poster also described the CM as a protector of the underprivileged. It read, "Protector of Dalits, Mahadalits, backward classes, upper castes and minorities - Tiger abhi zinda hai."
The poster comes at a time when many, including the Opposition leaders have raised questions about CM Nitish Kumar's health. The RJD has questioned his abilities to continue to govern the state. They have repeatedly raised questions both about his physical health and also his mental health.
Bihar, meanwhile, has already cast the ballot for this year's Assembly Elections. Several exit polls have shown a clear edge to the ruling NDA alliance of the BJP, over Mahagathbandhan. The Mahagathbandhan of the Congress, RJD and the Left parties, will fall short of the majority mark, predicted by most of the exit polls.
The NDA alliance meanwhile is expected to return to power with a thumping majority of 148 seats. The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan is projected to get just 88 seats, way below the halfway majority mark. At least 7 seats are expected to be won by other smaller parties and Independents.
Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 66.90%, with 65.08% polling in the first phase, and 68.76% polling in the second phase. Women participation in this year's elections was higher, compared to men. All parties have claimed that high voter participation will work in their favour.
The 2020 Assembly polls saw the NDA getting 125 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan won 110 seats. THis year's election results are to be declared on November 14, 2025.
