New Delhi: History is all about striking events. While we are all aware of how countries fought over serious political or social issues in history, some battles were fought over bizarre reasons. Here is a list of unique battles that have occurred in history:
The Emu War took place in 1932 in Australia after the farmers raised concerns about emus destroying their crops. As a result, the government of Australia sent soldiers to curb the issue. The battle was a disaster as the machine guns did not affect the birds due to their speed. After weeks of effort, the government withdrew, and the emus won the war.
The Pig War that took place between the US and the UK after a British pig was shot in an American's garden. The angry Britishers sent warships to the San Juan Islands, and the battle lasted several months. Eventually, the war ended after both parties reached a peaceful agreement.
This bizarre war took place after a Greek soldier chased a dog into Bulgarian border and was shot. It broke out a war among civilians. The battle was so bad that the League of Nations had to step in. Eventually, Greece was forced to pay a fine.
