New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi came under fire from the BJP iver his remarks of the Indian economy. The BJP criticised him for calling the Indian economy "dead" and justifying US President Donald Trump's statement regarding India. Taking a swipe at the Congress leader the BJP said that he seems to have confused the Indian economy with that of Pakistan.
The BJP had a piece of advice for Rahul Gandhi. The party's national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill wrote on social media platform 'X' that the Indian economy was "alive and kicking" and that Rahul Gandhi needs to assess the country's financial situation before making such statements.
Shergill wrote on 'X', "Rahul Gandhi says 'India is a dead economy'. Rahul Gandhi seems to be confusing the Indian economy with Pakistan's! The economy is "Alive & Kicking", Rahul Gandhi's logic is 'Dead'."
He then went on to list India's achievements and position in the world in various fields. The BJP leader highlighted that India is the fourth largest economy in the world, the second largest mobile manufacturer, the third largest automobile manufacturer and has the fourth strongest stock market. He advised Gandhi, "Pehle tolo, phir bolo".
This is not the first time that the BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of favouring Pakistan. Earlier the BJP accused him of promoting the neighbouring country's agenda after Gandhi said that no country supported India in its actions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. The BJP accused Gandhi of peddling Pakistan's agenda on the Pahalgam issue.
On Thursday Rahul Gandhi's remarks regarding the Indian economy created a stir. Supporting Donald Trump's remarks he had said that everyone else except PM Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman knew that the Indian economy is "dead". He also accused the BJP-led central government of destroying the country's economic, defence and foreign policies.
Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya also criticised Gandhi for his remarks. He said that the Congress leader had hit a new low by endorsing the American president's statement. He further said that the only thing that is dead is Rahul Gandhi's "own political credibility and legacy."
