Centre blocks Austrian economist's X account who posted 'dismantle India' with Khalistani map

In the post, which became viral, the economist called to 'dismantle India'. The government flagged the post and directed X to ensure Indian users cannot access Fehlinger-Jahn's account.

New Delhi: The Centre has blocked the X account of Austrian economist Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn. The move comes after he posted a controversial message that called to "dismantle India" with a map of Khalistan.

Taking to X, Fehlinger-Jahn said, "I call to dismantle India into ExIndia. @narendramodi is Russia's man. We need friends of freedom for @KhalistanNet."

The account is disabled in India

The post became viral and caught the attention of Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. They flagged the post and directed X to ensure Indian users cannot access Fehlinger-Jahn's account. Since then, it has been disabled in India.

Who is Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn?

An Austrian economist, Fehlinger-Jahn is the President of the Austrian Committee for NATO Membership of Ukraine, Kosovo, Bosnia, and Austria. Also, he is a member of the board of the Action Group for Regional Economic Integration of the Southern Balkans.

Notably, on July 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Austria, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so in 41 years. His visit coincided with the 75th anniversary of India-Austria diplomatic ties.
