New Delhi: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram-Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar on Saturday. He expressed his concerns for the state of law and order in Bihar. Paswan said that he "feels sad" to be supporting a government "incapable of curbing crime."

His sharp criticism comes in the wake of a disturbing incident in Gaya, where a 26-year-old woman participating in a Home Guard job test was allegedly gang-raped inside an ambulance. The incident occurred on July 24 while she was being taken to a hospital after collapsing during a physical test.

Paswan questions the capability of the state administration

Speaking during a press briefing, "The way crime is happening in Bihar, the administration has bowed down in front of the criminals. It is correct that this incident required condemnation, but why are such incidents happening? There is a series of crimes. If it continues like this, this situation would be frightening-rather, it has already become so."

He went on to question the capability and the intent of state administration. "Either the administration is trying to cover up the situation, or it is completely incapable of handling it. If someone says it's being done to defame the government during elections, even then, it is the responsibility of the administration to control it," he said.

"Morale of criminals in Bihar were very high": Paswan

Earlier this month, Paswan lashed out at the government saying that the morale of criminals in Bihar was "sky-high." He referred to multiple incidents such as the recent attack inside Patna's Paras Hospital.
