New Delhi: The Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have agreed to contest an equal number of seats, 101 each. This marks a shift in the balance of power within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state. The remaining 41 seats will be distributed among smaller allies, including Chirag Paswan 's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which has been allocated 29 constituencies. The equal division of seats hints at a decline in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar 's bargaining power and the growing electoral strength of the BJP. Over the past four assembly elections, the strike rate, the ratio of seats won to seats contested for the JDU has sharply declined. The BJP 's seat share, meanwhile, has significantly improved.
