Tej Pratap Yadav unfollows brother Tejashwi Yadav on X, to announce JJD candidates on October 13

The Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief now follows only five accounts, including just three family members, his father Lalu Prasad Yadav, his mother Rabri Devi and his sister Raj Lakshmi Yadav. He had earlier unfollowed his sisters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav.

New Delhi: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, a fresh rift has erupted within the Yadav family as Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, unfollowed his younger brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on social media platform X (formerly, Twitter).

“I will declare my candidates the day after tomorrow. Parso jordaar ailaan hoga (Day after tomorrow, big announcements will be made). I will contest from Mahua,” he told reporters as quoted by Hindustan Times. Tej Pratap will be contesting from the Mahua Assembly constituency, the same seat he won in 2015 as an RJD candidate. RJD's Mukhesh Kumar Raushan currently holds the seat.

Tej Pratap's move deepens political rift

When asked about possible alliances, Tej Pratap claimed that several parties were in touch with him. “Everyone is coming to meet me,” he said.

Tej Pratap Yadav was expelled from the RJD and the Yadav family earlier this year over what was described as a "serious breach of moral and social values." The controversy came after a Facebook post was made by Tej Pratap in which he allegedly claimed to be in a long-term relationship with a woman. He said his account had been hacked, following public backlash.

His personal life had previously drawn public attention after his estranged wife Aishwariya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai, accused him and his family of harassment. The couple's divorce case remains pending before the family court.

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11. The vote counting is scheduled for November 14.
