New Delhi: Days after the deadly fire at Goa’s Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub that claimed 25 lives, the authorities demolished a section of the other restaurant, which is also owned by Luthras. This restaurant, named Romeo Lane, is located in Vagator area.
The move is a part of the Goa Government’s efforts to take steps against nightclub owners after the deadly fire that sent shockwaves across the country. After the incident, the government has started taking action against illegal constructions along the coastline in the state. Sharing further details, authorities said the demolition will target the encroachment sites, which are situated on the beach side.
Meanwhile, the Luthra brothers reportedly left the country after the incident. They were reportedly last seen at Phuket airport during immigration checks. As per the Goa Police, the brothers reportedly fled to Phuket by an IndiGo flight on December 7, just hours after the incident.
According to a statement issued by the Goa Police, the brother duo fled to Phuket at 5:30 am on December 7 in an IndiGo Airlines plane, just hours after the incident. As per a report published in NDTV, the brothers checked into a resort in Phuket and left soon after. “They are believed to be evading detection," an official said.
Earlier, the Luthra brothers reportedly escaped the country after the massive manhunt was launched against them. It was later found that they took IndiGo flight 6E 1073 to Phuketat 5:30 AM on December 7, just hours after the incident.
The officials have sought the help of Interpol to arrest the two brothers. A team of police had visited the house of Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra in Delhi earlier in the day and interrogated members of their family.
