New Delhi: When 36-year-old Karan Dev died of an electrocution, his family believed that this was a tragic accident. However investigations into his death threw up a different story altogether. Dev's death turned out to be a well-planned murder conspiracy and revealed betrayal by his wife. The incident was reported from Delhi's Uttam Nagar area.

Dev brought to hospital unconscious

According to a report, Dev was brought to Mata Rooprani Maggo Hospital on July 13 by his wife, Sushmita. She claimed that her husband had accidentally suffered an electric shock. The doctors at the hospital declared him dead. His family did not want to have a post mortem but the Delhi Police insisted upon conducting it. They said that this was not a natural death and the age of the victim also necessitated a post mortem.

As the Delhi Police were trying to convince the family for a post mortem, Dev's wife and cousin Rahul vehemently opposed it. However despite the objections the police sent the body for post mortem to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital.

Three days after the man's death, his brother Kunal told the police that he suspected that his sister-in-law and cousin Rahul had murdered his brother. To back up his claims he also provided police with an Instagram chat between Sushmita and Rahul, where they had apparently discussed the murder plan.

The chats revealed that Sushmita and Rahul had an affair and this was what led to the murder. Karan was reportedly given 15 slipping pills with his food by his wife. The duo then waited for him to fall unconscious. The messages also revealed that the couple had googled the time it takes for sleeping pills to kill a person. Later as the man was still just unconscious, the duo decided to give him an electric shock. This they thought would make his death look like an accident.

Accused

The police have arrested Sushmita and her alleged lover. The woman  has reportedly confessed to the murder. During questioning the accused told police that her husband had slapped her a day before Karwachauth and would harass her for money. This she claimed caused her physical and emotional distress.
