New Delhi: A man from Delhi shared he was terminated just 48 hours after joining his new job. He stated that he was not offered a severance payment. Netizens kindly helped the man out. They suggested future steps.
The post was titled, "Laid off in just 2 days after joining." In the Reddit post, the Delhi man said he had been working as a Financial Analyst in Gurugram before switching his job in August. Unfortunately, he was informed by his manager that they needed somebody in the managerial role in order to give more responsibilities.
Man laid off after 48 years of joining new job
"I joined the new firm after resigning from my previous job. But after only two days, my manager told me they were now looking for someone at managerial level who could take on more responsibilities. I was laid off immediately, so I accepted it and left," said the man.
He added that he was now struggling to find a job and added that it was impossible for him to go back to his previous employer.
"It has started affecting my mental and physical health. If possible, can anyone help me navigate this or provide some useful advice? I trained my replacement before leaving, and he is doing well there. So going back is not an option," said the man.
Reddit users supported the man with their kind words. They asked him to name and shame the organisation. However, the man responded that he did not want to deal with the company. "I don’t want to engage with those people anymore. I just want to focus on finding a new job," said the man.
Meanwhile, speaking of not being offered severance, a user claimed that the Redditor was not eligible as he worked only for two days.
"He could file a case for mental distress due to termination without notice, but legally severance doesn’t apply here," said one individual.
