Delhi Red Fort blast was suicide attack, carried out in vehicle-borne IED, confirms NIA

The NIA, which is working closely with Haryana Police, Delhi Police and Jammu and Kashmir, has so far questioned 73 eyewitnesses, including those injured in the incident.

New Delhi: The probe by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) has confirmed that the Red Fort blast in Delhi was a suicide attack. It was carried out in a car with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and was driven by Umar Un Nabi. The same was confirmed with the arrest of Amir Rashid Ali, who was allegedly one of Nabi’s aides.

Sharing further details, officials said that the identity was confirmed by Forensic examination. A resident of Pulwama district, he was an assistant professor at Al Falah University in Faridabad. The agency has also seized another vehicle belonging to Nabi, which is being examined.

The agency has released four individuals

The agency has also released four individuals, who were earlier detained in connection with the Delhi Red Fort car blast. The released individuals have been identified as Dr Rehan, Dr Mohammad, Dr Mustaqeem, and fertiliser dealer Dinesh Singla. These individuals were associated with the university and were in touch with Nabu. The NIA is also probing whether chemicals used in the blast were procured from any fertilizer dealer.

The NIA, which is working closely with Haryana Police, Delhi Police and Jammu and Kashmir, has so far questioned 73 eyewitnesses, including those injured in the incident. The probe continues across the country to uncover the conspiracy behind the incident.

The probe so far

The blast took place on November 10, leading to the killing of at least 13 people and injuring many. Soon after the the blast the NIA was asked to probe the incident.   Soon after the the blast the NIA was asked to probe the incident. The probe led to Al Falah university in Faridabad. Though the university denied role in the incident, the agency have detained some of the officials for questioning. The agencies also took Nabi’s [arents in custody to confirm the DNA. Some of the suspects have been detained in the blast.
