Did you know Ratan Tata's brother leads a very simple life? He doesn't even use a mobile phone

Ratan Tata's brother, Jimmy Tata, despite his significant stake in various Tata companies, lives a remarkably simple life in a two-room Mumbai flat. Unlike his late brother's well-documented lifestyle, Jimmy remains largely out of the public eye, shunning media attention and reportedly forgoing even a mobile phone.

Kolkata: The best example of how one can live a simple life despite being the owner of crores of rupees was former Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata. After his death, Ratan Tata's half-brother, Noel Tata, took over the Tata Group.

Ratan Tata's brother Jimmy Tata stays away from the media and limelight. In June 2023, Ratan Tata posted a childhood picture of himself with Jimmy. It was then that Jimmy came into the spotlight of netizens.

Ratan Tata lived a simple life, even though he had the responsibility of the huge Tata empire on his shoulders. On the other hand, his brother Jimmy stays quietly away from the family business, and he lives like a normal person. At present, Jimmy is a shareholder in Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Sons, TCS, Tata Power, Indian Hotels and Tata Chemicals.

Despite having so much wealth, Jimmy lives in a two-room flat in Mumbai's Colaba. He had not married and reportedly does not even use a mobile phone. Recently, Harsh Goenka, son of Ramprasad Goenka, posted on his X handle. In the post, he wrote about Jimmy Tata and also mentioned that the latter is a great squash player.

In other news, the sales of Tata Motors Limited in both the domestic and international markets for Q1 FY26 fell to 2,10,415 units. In Q1 of 2025, the sales number was 2,29,891 units. In June this year, the domestic sales of MH7ICV were 12,871 units, whereas in June 2024, it was 14,640 units. In Q1 FY26, it was 37,370 units, but in Q1 FY25, it was 40,349 units.
