Upon interrogation, Myorpur police discovered that Krishnanand played a key role in planning the crimes. "He was involved in extorting money and valuables from unsuspecting families through fake marriages,” an official said.

According to investigators, Rani Kumari had staged multiple weddings and vanished soon after the ceremonies, escaping with lakhs of rupees in cash and jewellery each time. The case bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bollywood film Dolly Ki Doli, starring Sonam Kapoor, underscoring the adage that truth can indeed be stranger than fiction.
