Epicentre of global terrorism: S. Jaishankar lambasts Pakistan at UN
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar criticised Pakistan of sponsoring terror outfits and publicly glorifying such acts, at the 80th United Nations Genneral Assembly.
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, claiming that the country is the epicentre of global terrorism at the 80th UNGA conference on Saturday. The EAM further said that Islamabad has orchestrated the deadliest terror attacks for decades.
Jaishankar then criticised Pakistan for openly declaring terrorism a "state policy". He also accused the state of operating terror outfits on an industrial scale and publicly glorifying terrorism. Jaishankar claimed that such actions should be "unequivocally condemned".

Addressing the world leaders at the UNGA, Jaishankar said that Ever since India gained impendence, it has confronted the fact that its neighbour is an "epicentre of global terrorism". "For decades now, major international terrorist attacks are traced back to that one country. UN's designated lists of terrorists are replete with its nationals," the foreign affairs minister added.
Highlighting the bloody episode of Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar claimed that India exercised its right to defend its people against terrorism and brought its organisers and perpetrators to justice."
The EAM also accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism and said that it should be stopped. "The financing of terrorism must be choked even as prominent terrorists are sanctioned. Relentless pressure must be applied to the entire terrorism ecosystem. Those who condone nations that sponsor terror will find that it comes back to bite them", Jaishankar said.
Gehlot's blistering attack on Pakistan PM
On Saturday, Pakistan suffered a major setback when Indian diplomat Petal Gehlot slammed Pakistani Prime Minister over his contentious remarks on Operation Sindoor and the Indus Waters Treaty. The first secretary then accused Pakistan of shielding ‘The Resistance Front’, the terror outfit that orchestrated the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. She also recalled Pakistan’s attempt to shelter al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, even while pretending to partner in the war against terrorism.
