‘Got only 4’: Woman in Vadodara sits on road, stalls traffic after spat with golgappa vendor

New Delhi: Traffic in Vadodara came to an unusual standstill this week, not because of a rally or heavy rains, but over a dispute involving golgappas. Near the busy Sursagar Lake area, a woman staged a sit-in on the road after accusing a street vendor of short-changing her on the popular snack. She alleged she had paid Rs 20 for six puris but was served only four. Furious at what she called an “unfair deal,” she sat down in the middle of the road and refused to move until she was given the missing two puris.

The scene quickly attracted crowds, with passersby recording the protest on their phones while motorists struggled to manoeuvre around her. When police arrived to disperse the crowd, the woman broke down in tears, demanding that the officers ensure she received her rightful portion. For hours, traffic remained blocked as the unusual standoff continued.

Eventually, the police escorted the woman away, bringing traffic back to normal. It remains unclear whether her demand for the extra puris was ever fulfilled.
