That is the eerie case of Hoer Verde, a Brazilian town that, according to legend, disappeared without a trace in 1923.
The story of Hoer Verde is as unsettling as it is mysterious. The town was reportedly home to around 600 people, yet one day, travellers passing through the region found it completely deserted.
There were no signs of violence, no bodies, and no indication of where the residents had gone. Even more chilling, food was still sitting on dining tables, and personal belongings were left behind as if people had disappeared mid-task.
Inside a school building, investigators supposedly found a disturbing clue—a chalkboard with the phrase "There is no salvation" written in Portuguese. What this cryptic message meant remains unknown. Some speculate it could have been a warning or a final message from the townspeople before they vanished.
With no official records confirming Hoer Verde’s disappearance, many theories have surfaced over the years. Some believe extraterrestrials took the town’s inhabitants, explaining why no bodies or remains were found.
