New Delhi: A day before the counting of votes the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approaching, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLC Sunil Singh sparked a controversy, saying that any attempt at electoral malpractice would spark a major crisis in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Singh said that if there was "fraud in the elections, Bihar will be turned into another Nepal or Bangladesh,” suggesting that any manipulation of results could lead to instability. He claimed that ordinary citizens were "vigilant” and that workers of the RJD and the broader opposition alliance were "on alert” to resist any wrongdoing.
"We will not tolerate even one percent of malpractice,” Singh said. Urging election officials to uphold neutrality, he appealed for "honest conduct during counting,” asking them to "separate truth from falsehood” and carry out their duties "with integrity, without becoming guided instruments serving someone else.”
He further warned that those attempting to manipulate the results "will not be able to remain in power for long,” adding that Bihar’s voters would not forgive such actions.
