New Delhi: With an aim to further strengthen Indian armed forces, India has started discussions with Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) for the integration of the revolutionary Arbel computerised weapon system. The world’s first fully computerised small-arms fire-control system, it has been designed to improve accuracy, lethality, and decision-making for soldiers in complex conditions.
The system consists of real-time ballistic computation, advanced sensors, and target-acquisition capabilities. During the battle, the system helps soldiers to achieve a greater hit probability. Speaking to news agency ANI, IWI CEO Shuki Schwartz, while confirming that the talks are underway, said, "We are now in the first conversations and talks regarding integrating the ARBEL systems in India."
Arbel computerised weapon system helps in the movement of the weapon and also helps in identifying the user's tactical scenario and aiming pattern. The weapon’s Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) algorithm determines the optimal fire solution within milliseconds, the agency reported.
The system analyse the behaviour of the shooter after firing the first shot. The weapon then releases the next round after checking the probability of the hit. Importantly, the system can also be integrated with any small-arms platform. It does not need any optical components to perform.
Notably, India has acquired a wide range of IWI weapons over the years. Over the years, weapons which India acquired for its armed forces include - IWI X95 Assault Rifle, sniper rifles from the Galil Sniper Rifle family, light machine guns like Negev NG-7 Light Machine Gun. India has also signed contracts for thousands of Negev light machine guns to bolster paramilitary forces.
