New Delhi: The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a clarification that they are 'coordinating his new visit date to India.
Notably, this comes amid reports that Netanyahu's visit to India has been postponed due to security reasons. His office took to X and wrote, "The PM has full confidence in India's security under PM Modi, and teams are already coordinating a new visit date." It termed Israel’s bond with India and that between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netanyahu as 'very strong'.
Netanyahu's visit to India has reportedly been postponed over security concerns following the terror attack in New Delhi a couple of weeks ago near the Red Fort metro station, which killed at least 12 people and injured many.
A report by Israeli media i24NEWS read, "Netanyahu, who last visited India in 2018 and was set to return for meetings with PM Modi, is now expected to seek a new date next year pending security assessments."
Notably, he was supposed to visit India by the end of 2025, but for the third time this year, his visit has been cancelled. He last visited India from January 14 to 19 in 2018.
Netanyahu expressed his condolences to India and expressed solidarity after the Delhi terror attack. His office posted on X, "To our dear friend Narendra Modi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time."
It also wrote, "India and Israel are ancient civilisations that stand on eternal truths. Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies."
