Jaipur: Hospital refuses to handover body over pending dues, minister Kirodi Lal Meena slams own govt

Jaipur: A heated argument broke out and went on for nearly four hours at Jaipur's Santokba Durlabhji Hospital over withholding of a dead body for non-payment of dues. The argument broke out on Sunday after a patient named Vikram Meena, who was injured in a road accident on October 13th, died during the treatment.
The family alleges that the hospital administration pressured them to pay lakhs of rupees even after his death. They claim that despite the availability of treatment under the "Maa Yojana," the hospital administration demanded a deposit. The hospital administration handed them a bill of Rs 8.38 lakh.
They had deposited Rs 6.39 lakh, but the hospital administration refused to hand over the body unless the remaining amount was paid. They were told that the body would not be released without payment. The matter was resolved when Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena arrived at the hospital.
Minister says benefits of govt schemes not reaching the needy
Kirodi stated that the Maa Yojana provides treatment for Rs 25 lakh and the central government's Ayushman scheme provides treatment for Rs 5 lakh. He has asked the Chief Secretary to take action in this matter.
Kirodi Lal Meena stated that the public is not receiving the benefits of government schemes. Despite being registered with government schemes, hospitals are not providing benefits to patients. He said, "Benefits of the schemes are not being provided at private hospitals. I admit that our government is not monitoring these issues. I will speak to the Chief Minister about this.”
