Thiruvananthapuram- VV Rajesh, the newly appointed Mayor is a local leader from Thiruvananthapuram and well known among party workers and among the public.

Rajesh who enjoys the support from the RSS and the local leaders has always been among the forefront of protests and other political gatherings in the capital town.

VV Rajesh’s name as Mayor candidate was decided after many rounds of discussions and deliberations within the BJP and the RSS. 

Rajesh is currently serving his second term in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, representing the Kodunganoor ward. In the 2025 local body elections, he won the seat with a margin of 515 votes.

Rajesh had also entered the electoral fray in the 2021 Kerala Assembly election from the Vattiyoorkavu constituency as the BJP candidate. He secured 39,596 votes and finished in second place, behind CPI(M)’s VK Prasanth, who polled 61,111 votes, winning by a margin of 21,515 votes.

A senior leader in the party, Rajesh holds the position of BJP state secretary and has played several key organisational roles over the years.

He has previously served as the Thiruvananthapuram district president and as the state president of the BJP Yuva Morcha.

Rajesh began his political career in 1996 and has been active in politics for nearly three decades.

His long association with the party and experience in organisational roles have shaped his journey in public life.
