A 52-year-old bank manager allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra's Pune district on Thursday. In his death note, the deceased did not blame anyone for his death. He urged his family to donate his eyes after death.
New Delhi: A bank manager from Baramati town of Pune district in Maharashtra allegedly died by suicide inside the bank premises on Thursday. A suicide note has reportedly been recovered from the scene, indicating work pressure as the cause of the death, police said on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Shiv Kumar Mitra (52), was the chief manager in the Bank of Baroda branch of the locality. He was currently serving a notice period after his resignation on July 11. According to officials, he resigned from his job due to alleged health issues and work pressure.
Was it a planned suicide?
On the day of the incident, Mitra asked all his associates to leave the bank premises, as it was the closing hours. The deceased had earlier asked one of his colleagues to bring a rope. The bank manager reportedly hanged himself at around 10 pm. The CCTV camera inside the bank captured the entire incident, news agency PTI reported.
His wife, worried that he was not responding to her calls, rushed to the bank. When no one opened the door, she, along with the security staff, allegedly opened the bank door. Entering the bank, the two discovered the hanging body of Mitra.
Big revelations in death note
The death note recovered by the police allegedly uncovered the reasons of Mitra's death. He allegedly mentioned that immense work pressure led him to take such a drastic step. Additionally, it said that every bank employee was contributing and that the bank authorities should not pressurise them too much. Mitra did not blame anyone for his death in the note. The deceased also apologised to his wife and daughter for committing suicide and urged them to donate his eyes if possible, according to the Indian Express.
The police have lodged an accidental death report and launched an investigation regarding the case.
