Kalyan, Maharashtra: A tragic incident has shaken the residents of the upscale Raunak City Society in Kalyan (West), after a 14-year-old girl reportedly jumped to her death from the 19th floor of a high-rise building. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the premises.
According to preliminary police information, the deceased, identified as Riddhi Kharade, was a student of Class 8. Investigators revealed that Riddhi had reportedly been distressed over scoring low marks in her recent midterm examinations. On Wednesday evening, in a shocking turn of events, she allegedly jumped from the 19th floor of her building in the presence of her elder sister.

Local residents alerted the authorities soon after the incident. Officers from the Khadakpada Police Station reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation and inquest proceedings. The police have also obtained CCTV footage from the society, which reportedly shows the moments leading up to the incident.
A senior police officer said, “Based on the footage and statements from family members, it appears to be a case of suicide. We are continuing to verify all details and are awaiting the post-mortem report.”
The incident has sent shockwaves across the entire city, with neighbours describing Riddhi as a bright and polite student. Psychology experts have urged parents to remain attentive to signs of stress or anxiety among children, particularly related to academic performance.
