Amravati, Maharashtra: A wedding in Maharashtra’s Amravati took a devastating turn when a 26-year-old groom collapsed and died of a suspected heart attack barely 30 minutes after the traditional varmala (garlanding) ceremony. What began as a joyous evening ended in shock and grief as families watched the celebrations unravel before their eyes.
According to local reports, the groom and bride had just completed the main ritual on stage and exchanged garlands while relatives and guests applauded. Moments later, the groom reportedly complained of unease and appeared visibly uncomfortable. Before anyone could fully grasp what was happening, he collapsed on the stage.
Family members and guests rushed to assist him and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite swift efforts to save him, doctors declared him dead on arrival, citing a heart attack as the likely cause.
The suddenness of the tragedy left both families shattered. Within minutes, an atmosphere filled with music, laughter and the anticipation of a new beginning descended into profound silence and disbelief. Relatives described the groom as healthy and cheerful during the earlier rituals, making the incident even more unimaginable.
The wedding venue, once draped in festive decorations, soon turned into a scene of mourning as relatives struggled to come to terms with the loss. Community members in Amravati expressed deep shock over the incident, calling it one of the most heartbreaking wedding-day tragedies witnessed in recent years.
