Satara: A buffalo from Maharashtra's Satara district is currently making headlines across the country and abroad. This buffalo is attracting attention due to her unique characteristics and has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The buffalo has been named Radha. Known as ‘Butki Radha’ in Satara, she is being touted as the world’s smallest buffalo. She is owned by a farmer named Trimbak Borate and his son Aniket. According to the family, Radha was born on June 19, 2022. When she was about two and a half years old when her owner noticed that her height wasn't growing like normal buffalo.
Soon after, Aniket decided to take the buffalo to agricultural exhibitions. After her first appearance at the Siddheshwar Agricultural Exhibition in Solapur on December 21, 2024, Radha gained instant popularity. Subsequently, she participated in around 13 exhibitions, including Sevagiri in Pusegaon and Nipani in Karnataka, where she was invited as a special attraction.
Radha's fame was not limited to the country. On January 24, 2025, 'Radha's name was entered in the India Book of Records. Following this, Aniket began his efforts for the Guinness World Record. After submitting all the documents and completing the inspection process, on September 20, 2025, 'Radha's name was officially entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's smallest buffalo.
Radha's height is only 83.8 cm (2 feet 8 inches). Due to this achievement, the farmer’s family is receiving widespread praise, and people from all over the world are coming to Malwadi to see this amazing buffalo. This is a significant achievement for a buffalo from a small village.
