Baramati: In a tragic incident, early on Wednesday, a plane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others crashed while landing in Baramati. All five, including Ajit Pawar, lost their lives in the incident. The two pilots in the cockpit were Captain Sahil Madan and First Officer Shambhavi Pathak.
Two pilots were among dead
The two pilots were also among the dead in the plane crash. As per reports, large explosions were heard after the plane crashed while landing. While no official reason has been issued on what led to the incident, it is believed that the accident might have occurred due to bad weather.

Of the two pilots, Captain Sahil Madan was more experienced, who started flying in 2010. During his 16-years of experience, he has worked for a number of prestigious companies like Air Charter Service and Winfly. He was currently working with VSR Ventures Private Limited.
As per his LinkedIn profile, Sahil had started his career with Air Charter Services Pvt. Ltd as Captain flying Pilatus PC-12. He then joined VSR Ventures Pvt. Ltd in 2015, where he worked for four years. After this, he joined Winfly Aviation Pvt Ltd as a full-time chief pilot. In 2022, he was with VSR Corporation Private Limited and started flying a Learjet 45 as a captain in 2024.
Some details about First Officer Shambhavi Pathak
His co-pilot on Wednesday was First Officer Shambhavi Pathak. She studied at Air Force Bal Bharati School and completed her secondary education between 2016 and 2018. After this, she joined a commercial pilot and flight crew training in New Zealand. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics, Aviation and Aerospace Science and Technology from Mumbai University in 2022.
She had also joined the Madhya Pradesh Flying Club as an Assistant Flying Instructor. She received a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
