Mamata Banerjee suspects sabotage in Ajit Pawar plane crash, demands SC monitored probe

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed shock at the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe in the entire incident. Ajit Pawar and five others lost their lives earlier in the day after their plane crashed while landing in Baramati.

Conspiracy can’t be ruled out: Mamata Banerjee

"Ajit Pawar was about to leave the BJP-led alliance. Any kind of conspiracy cannot be ruled. A Supreme Court-monitored probe should be done in the matter. Nobody is safe in the country, including leaders,” the West Bengal CM said.

Taking to X earlier, she wrote, "Deeply shocked and stunned by the sudden demise of Ajit Pawar! The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and his co-passengers have died in a disastrous plane crash at Baramati this morning, and I am feeling a deep sense of loss. Leaders across party lines condole death

Several leaders across party lines have condoled the death of Ajith Pawar. Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, "Shri Ajit Pawar Ji was a leader of the people, having a strong grassroots level connect. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality at the forefront of serving the people of Maharashtra”.

He added, "His understanding of administrative matters and passion for empowering the poor and downtrodden were also noteworthy. His untimely demise is very shocking and saddening. Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti.”
