'No factions in Karnataka Congress': Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar put up united face amid power tussle murmurs

The Karnataka Chief Minister and his deputy met this morning for breakfast, a day after the Congress high command spoke to them on phone and directed them to resolve the ongoing power tussle.

New Delhi: After their much-anticipated breakfast meeting, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar held a joint press conference and said there are no differences or confusion between the duo and Congress unit in Karnataka. The two leaders also asserted that empowering Congress is their duty and that they would abide by the high command's order. "We are together, and this unity will continue," they quipped.

Addressing the press briefing, Siddaramaiah said, "I had a breakfast meeting with deputy CM Shivakumar because some unwanted confusion has been created recently. We don't have differences. Even today, there are no differences, there won't be any in the future as well. There won't be any confusion in the future. The confusion has been created by the media."

On being asked about the rumoured power-sharing agreement, Siddaramaiah said, "We are together and there are no differences between us." Commenting on the leadership tussle, the Chief Minister said, "We have decided to go by directions and instructions of the Congress high command. No one is against the party's top leadership."

Shivakumar says there is no factions in K'taka Congress 

Meanwhile, Shivakumar clarified that there were no factions in the party's state unit and that they will work together and take everyone along and abide by the party high command:

"As far as the leadership issue is concerned, it is for the party high command to decide. Whatever they say, we will follow. We are loyal soldiers of the party. The party is going through a difficult phase in the country  but we are confident that in Karnataka, we will repeat our victory in 2028 and move ahead under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi."

He further said that they discussed the strategy for the 2028 Assembly polls, during the breakfast meeting and how to counter the Opposition in the state.

"The entire workforce of the state has supported us, and the people have blessed us with a massive mandate. Whatever promises we have made, it is our duty to fulfil them. We are providing good governance and will continue to do so. We discussed the upcoming Assembly session and how to deal with the Opposition.
