‘Nothing will happen’: Madhya Pradesh councillors husband threatens woman he allegedly raped

Satna: The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested a man, who is the husband of BJP councillor, for allegedly harassing a woman and issuing serious threats. The man was taken in custody after the victim filed a complaint, and a video was also circulated on social media, in which the man can be heard openly abusing her.

Video goes viral

In the video, the woman can be heard saying, "I will put it on social media.” The man then replies, "Put it on media. Nothing will happen. No one can do anything to me.” As the argument increased, the woman said, "The more I cry, one day you will also have to cry.” The man then laughs at her.

Sharing details, the police said that the woman filed a complaint at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. In her complaint, the woman said that the accused Ashok Singh had been harassing her both physically and mentally for the last six months.

Victim runs local shop

The woman, who runs a local shop, in her complaint said that the accused raped her at knifepoint, recorded a video, and threatened her to make it public. She even accused him of forcing her into an immoral relationship and threatened her whenever she refused.

As soon as the video gained attention and the matter increased, the Rampur police filed a case against Singh under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which include Sections 74, 75(2), 79, 296(1), and 351(3).

The victim said that while she earlier stayed silent since she was scared, but was again targeted on December 20, when Singh allegedly molested her. The woman further claimed that the accused wanted her continue to abide by his wishes or face public humiliation through the video.

Accused taken in police custody

The police have taken the accused into custody late at night. It further said that the further probe is on in the matter. Reacting to the development, officials said that the law is the same for all. They added that the case would be probed in fair means and the accused’s alleged influence will not be any hinder in the case.
