Jammu: A 35-year-old CBI lawyer was killed after a speeding Scorpio rammed into his car on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district. A chilling video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The victim, Sheikh Adil Nabi, was recently appointed as a prosecuting officer with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In the widely-circulated video, a black-coloured Scorpio car can be seen hitting the advocate's vehicle from behind near Banihal. The incident took place on Friday.
CBI lawyer sustained serious injuries
Nabi was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Banihal, with critical injuries following the accident and was given first aid. He was later referred to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura where he succumbed to his injuried during tretamenet. .
"Adil Sheikh, who was serving as a public prosecutor and had been appointed with the CBI, Chandigarh, about two months ago, was injured in the accident," Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta said.
Accused Scorpio driver arrested
The accused driver of the Mahindra Scorpio, identified as Mohammad Shafi, was arrested after the video of the incident surfaced on social media.
Nabi was appointed as a public prosecutor with the top central probe agency in Chandigarh, after he cleared the UPSC examination.
