Chandan Mishra murder

On July 17, 5 men armed with guns, entered Patna's Paras Hospital. They reached the ICU and killed gangster Chandan Mishra. The deceased, himself a dreaded gangster, died during treatment.

The CCTV cameras at the hospital captured all 5 shooters and as the video went viral, there was outrage across the country. People started to question Bihar's law and order situation. The Opposition attacked the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in the state.

Leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav took to 'X' to express concern about the deteriorating law and order in the state. He wrote on the microblogging site, "Criminals, enjoying state protection, managed to open fire on a patient inside a hospital. Is anyone safe in Bihar anymore? Did such incidents ever occur before 2005, during the RJD's tenure?"

Following the murder, the pressure was clearly on the Bihar Police and they have now managed to arrest 5 people. Earlier, the police had arrested one of the shooters seen in the video at the hospital. He was identified as Tauseef Badshah. Apart from him several of his associates were also nabbed from Bihar's Buxar and capital Patna.

Reports said that he led the 5-member hit squad which killed Mishra. According to police, the man had prior knowledge about the hospital layout and they exploited a broken door to gain entry into the premises and killed the victim.
