New Delhi: Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of murdering her husband Raja Raghuanshi during their honeymoon has filed a bail petition in court. The bail petition will be heard on September 17 by the judicial magistrate first class of Sohra sub-division.
The Additional Public Prosecutor in court, Tushar Chandra said that Sonam's lawyer filed the petition on Friday, but the prosecution sought time to examine it. Hence the date of hearing was fixed for later, he added.
Sonam's lawyer has said that there are "flaws in the chargesheet filed in the murder case of Indore-based businessman, Raja Raghuvanshi."
Raja Raghuanshi was killed by 3 hired killers in Meghalaya's Weisawdong in Sohra. The killers were hired by his wife, Sonam Raghuanshi and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha. The duo planned the murder because Sonam did not want to marry Raja and was forced by her family to do so.
Sonam and Raja were reported missing while they were on their honeymoon. Soon after the missing report, a nationwide search started for the couple. Just a few days later, Raja Raghuvanshi's body was discovered in Meghalaya. Later Sonam surrendered to the police in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
The other accused in the case were nabbed by the police, before Sonam surrendered. Last week the police had filed a 790-page chargesheet in the murder case. THey had named Sonam Raghuanshi as the chief conspirator in the murder of Raja. Her boyfriend Raj and three hitmen, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi were also named as accused.
