Security Service, SPG, AI, 'fortress-on-wheels': Putin to have security ring of 5 layers in India

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India for two days on December 4. His visit marks the occasion of the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi.

Putin's visit comes amid his war with Ukraine and tussle with Europe, and is poised to be a critical test of how far India and Russia are willing to deepen a bilateral relationship that goes back years. A head of State of such stature is bound of receive the most high-profile security arrangement, and both nations are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that for the Russian President.

Putin's security ring in India will have highly trained personnel from Russia's Presidential Security Service, top commandos from our National Security Guard, snipers, drones, jammers, and monitoring with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to a report by NDTV, more than 48 top security personnel from Russia have already reached Delhi and will play a key role in Putin's security later, along with officials of the Delhi Police and the NSG. Every route his cavalcade will pass through has been sanitised while specialised drones will ensure that a control room set up for his security watches his cavalcade at all times. The route will be covered by several snipers with jammers, AI monitoring and facial recognition cameras being deployed amid a vast array of technology used for Putin's security.

SPG, Russian Presidential Security Service

The report said that the security ring will have five layers and the outer layers will be formed by NSG and Delhi Police officers, while the inner layers will comprise of the Russian Presidential Security Service. When Putin meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's SPG commandos will become part of the inner security ring.

Putin's accommodation has been completely checked, and the places he is scheduled to visit, along with several potential impromptu destinations, have also been sanitized.

Putin's heavily armoured luxury limousine

Putin will use his Aurus Senat, a heavily armoured luxury limousine. It is being flown in from Moscow to India, and it is the same car in which he rode with PM Modi during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in China in 2025. The Senat is also known as a 'fortress-on-wheels', and Russian automaker Aurus Motors developed it. Since 2018, it has been Putin's official state car.
