Greater Noida: A female student of Sharda University in Greater Noida allegedly died by suicide in girls' hostel on Friday. The woman, a BDS second-year student, allegedly accused two professors and the university management of mentally harassing her. She was found hanging in her room in the Mandela Girls Hostel of the university. An alleged suicide note was also recovered from her room.
The woman was a resident of Grurgram. According to the suicide note, she was being mentally harassed for a very long time. "If I died, the teachers of PCP and Dental Material are to be blame. Mahinder sir and Shairq ma'am are responsible for my death. I want them to go behind the bars," the student wrote in the purported letter. She accused the two of humiliating her and said that she had been in stress because of them for a very long time. "I want them to face the same thing. I can't live like this anymore," the suicide note read.
Upon receiving information about the incident from the university management, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. They also two university staff into custody and have been interrogating them.
Meanwhile, the college students created a ruckus in the hostel premises over the incident and accused the management of negligence. The students alleged that the deceased was accused of making fake signatures, due to which she was stressed.
ADCP Greater Noida Sudhir Kumar confirmed that a female student died by suicide by hanging herself in the girls' hostel room of a private university under the jurisdiction of Knowledge Park police station. "The deceased was a BDS second-year student. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The incident spot was inspected by police officers and forensic team," Kumar said.
Based on the complaint filed by the family of the student, a case has been registered against the university staff under relevant sections, said police, adding two people have been detained.
The incident comes amid a massive nationwide outrage over the death of a college student in Odisha's Balasore who died after setting herself ablaze, allegedly due to inaction over her allegations of sexual harassment by a professor.
