Canning: In a tragic incident, the body of Guljan Parveen Mollah alias Reshmi (22) was found hanging inside her quarters of Canning Police Station, where she was working as a home guard. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
Her family has alleged that sub-inspector Sayan Bhattacharya, who was working at a same police station, might be behind the death. The family alleged that she had an extra marital affairs with her and that she was murdered.
The police have registered a murder case against the accused and started probing the case. In the meantime, Bhattaracharya has been suspended from the job on the orders of the District Superintendent of Baruipur Police.
With no trace of the accused, the police suspect that Bhattacharya absconded after the news of Reshmi's 'mysterious death' spread. A six-member police team have been formed to probe the investigation. Additional Superintendent of Police of Baruipur Police District, Pratap Sengupta, has been asked to lead the Special Investigation Team (SIT) .
According to family, after her duty on Friday, Reshmi went to the quarter behind the Canning police station. Even though the family members called her repeatedly on phone, there was no response from her. They then tried to contact her next day , but again without success. The family then approached Canning police station on Sunday for help.
Her sister Ruksana Khatun then when straight to the quarter where the deceased was staying. After reaching there she forced opened the door and was shocked to see the body of her sister hanging from the ceiling.
