A heartwarming story of kindness has gone viral after a Reddit user shared how a complete stranger helped them during a financial crisis — by sending Rs 2,800 from her own pocket and expecting nothing in return. The stranger asked the Redditor to consider it as a Rakshabandhan gift from an elder sister.

The person, who posted the story on Reddit, explained that they were going through a very difficult time. Their rent was overdue, loan repayments were pending and they had no way to get money quickly. They had a payment due from an international client, but their PayPal account wasn’t working. With no immediate solution in sight, they turned to Reddit in desperation.

"I was in a really low place… I felt helpless,” the user wrote.

In a moment of vulnerability, they posted on Reddit asking if anyone with a working PayPal and UPI account could help them transfer the money. They didn’t expect anyone to respond. But then, a stranger replied.

The two started talking. The woman didn’t just help — she listened to his situation and offered support without judgment. Then, unexpectedly, she sent Rs 2,800 from her own account to help him cover his urgent expenses.

"She sent me Rs 2,800 from her own pocket. No conditions. No second thoughts. Just out of kindness,” the Reddit user said, still overwhelmed by the gesture.

Even though he offered to pay her back multiple times, she refused. Instead, she told him to treat the money as a Rakshabandhan gift from an elder sister.

"I honestly don’t know what to say. That kind of kindness from someone who doesn’t even know me? It meant everything in that moment,” the user added.

The man added that while she didn’t ask for repayment, he still plans to return the money someday, simply because "she deserves it.”

Ending the post with heartfelt gratitude, he wrote, "If you ever wonder whether genuine, good-hearted people still exist… they do. And sometimes, they show up when you need them most. I hope god gives her the best life possible.”
