2026 Tamil Nadu Polls will be historic like 1967, 1977: Vijay unveils TVK membership app

During the meeting, held in Panaiyur with TVK state and district executives, Vijay launched a dedicated membership app for the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam. He drew parallels to past political shifts, recalling how newcomers triumphed in 1967 and 1977 by challenging entrenched powers through relentless public outreach.

The My TVK membership app will remain exclusive to party cadres for the initial 15 day period. Public access will begin on August 15, while the iOS version is slated for release in September.

Chennai: Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay declared that the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections would be historic, akin to the landmark elections of 1967 and 1977, where grassroots mobilization led to decisive victories. Speaking at a party meeting in Chennai today, Vijay emphasized the importance of direct public engagement, stating, "Leaders have won by going from village to village, street to street, and door to door to meet the people."

"In those elections, newcomers stood against dominant forces and won by connecting with every voter—village by village, street by street, house by house," Vijay said. Quoting former leader Annadurai, he urged party workers: "Go to the people, learn from them, live among them, and plan with them. If we do this right, it will be enough."

Expressing confidence in public support, Vijay announced upcoming outreach efforts, including the Madurai conference, public meetings, and statewide tours. "The people are with us. Let us think positively—good things will happen. Victory is certain," he asserted.

The newly launched app aims to streamline membership enrolment, reinforcing TVK’s digital push alongside its on-ground campaigns.
