Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in seven districts of Tamil Nadu—Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Pudukkottai—as well as in Karaikal today. A lower-level atmospheric circulation over South Coastal Tamil Nadu and the adjoining Gulf of Mannar is driving the wet weather.
Tamil Nadu weather report
According to the IMD, light to moderate rain is likely at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal regions on Monday, with the heavy rain alert concentrated in the northern coastal and delta districts.
The weather department predicts moderate rain at a few places in South Tamil Nadu and isolated showers in North Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, January 13. This marks a return of wet conditions after a relatively dry spell through much of December.
